Cosmology cosmology - Cosmology – definition of cosmology by The Free Dictionary

The Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation (CMBR) is sensibly explained due to radiation from cold matter in interstellar space. Since we only measure one source of CMBR this means that there cannot have been a 'Big Bang' otherwise we would observe two sources of cosmic background radiation.

Cosmologists cannot explain all cosmic phenomena exactly, such as those related to the accelerating expansion of the universe , using conventional forms of energy . Instead, cosmologists propose a new form of energy called dark energy that permeates all space. [21] One hypothesis is that dark energy is the energy of virtual particles , which are believed to exist in a vacuum due to the uncertainty principle .

The Central European Institute for Cosmology and Fundamental Physics ( CEICO ) is a new centre within the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences.

The branch of science dealing with the large-scale structure, origins, and development of the universe. ( See astronomy and Big Bang theory .)
